This position resides in the Gastroenterology Therapeutic Area Strategy (TAS) Team which is responsible for developing, coordinating and executing the Therapeutic Area strategic plan for Medical Affairs.  The strategic plan will aim to sustain Medical Affairs and commercial leadership in this therapeutic area by identifying and addressing key stakeholders’ knowledge gaps through data dissemination, data generation and education.  The position is primarily responsible for designing and executing registries, Phase IIIb/IV trials and other post-marketing requirements within the areas of JBI's current or emerging indications.  This position supports research in Immunology targeting gastroenterological conditions in late Phase III development.
 
Responsibilities for this position include:Â
Responsible for the development and execution of Medical Affairs sponsored and supported clinical programs for company products in the Gastroenterology TA. This will include study design, protocol development, execution, and supervision of clinical studies of all types: Phase IIIb/IV, registries and investigator initiated studies supported by Medical Affairs 
Work cross-functionally with other TAs, IBD Disease Area Stronghold (DAS), R&D, HECOR, Global Medical Affairs and Commercial to promote and execute the GI TA Strategy
Actively contribute as a disease-specific expert, and provide advice and input to the IBD DAS, Commercial, HECOR and Medical Information Teams

Qualifications
Qualifications for this position include:
This position requires a MD or MD/PhD.
Advanced training in Gastroenterology is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of clinical and managerial experience in pharmaceutical trial design and conduct (Phases II-IV) OR gastroenterological safety/pharmacovigilance experience within the pharmaceutical industry, CRO or academia is desirable.
Must have strong leadership skills with highly collaborative instincts.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with basic and clinical scientists, including biologists, pharmacologists as well as with regulatory, clinical and commercial colleagues.
Requires demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment with cross-functional teams
Requires annual travel of approximately 15-20% of time (primarily domestic but some international)
