Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Principal Process Technology Engineer to support the Fluorochemicals business unit with specific focus on a single project in the first year. The Principal Process Technology Engineer will be part of the Central Process Engineering Group reporting to the Director of Process Technology.
The ideal candidate must be able to develop and execute projects and programs. The Principal Process Technology Engineer will be accountable for specifying and developing process technology for new process design and plant improvement. The individual will be regarded as a subject matter expert for one or more areas of technology, simulation and/or unit operation process expert.
Specific job activities include (but are not limited to):
: Long term working with several sites across multiple business units.
: Initial focus will be on the Fluorochemicals Calvert City and Buffalo sites.
: In first 12 months act as technical lead on a piloting facility at a contract site.
: Interface with global R and D leading to piloting and other scale up activities, process technology development and subsequent process engineering.
: Conduct basic engineering work and process analysis on complex plant unit operations.
: Study process alternatives and develop preliminary economics analysis.
: Use process modeling software such as Aspen and interpret data to generate solutions.
: Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P and IDs), heat and material balances, etc.
: Prepare basic engineering packages.
: Use knowledge of safety regulations and environmental issues, and incorporate them into engineering work.
: Participate in Hazard Reviews.
: Incorporate waste and energy minimization and control into projects.
: Effectively organize and plan work. Will assume the role of team leader as needed.
: Coordinate process tests with plants and provide oversight.
: May develop and lead small capital projects and may provide process support to larger capital projects.
: Business support, competitive intelligence support and joint ownership of business unit process technology.
: Supervise and lead less senior engineers as a functional manager.
This position is located at our Corporate Offices and R and D Center in King of Prussia, PA. Business travel is expected to range between 50:60 during the first 6 months and then settle to 20:30 thereafter.
Qualifications / experience required
: Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering is required for this position; Masters degree preferred.
: Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience.
: Prior experience with fluorination chemistry and Aspen simulation is highly preferred.
: Lean Six Sigma certification would be advantageous.
: Well versed in the laws and rules governing the design and implementation of solutions regarding chemical processes.
: Team player with high order interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
: Demonstrated skills in industrial safety and process safety is a must.
