Connect with Symphony Collaborate with Customers Differentiate YourselfThe Certified Clinical Coder is responsible for serving as a key resource for defining the set(s) of codes which best define various clinical conditions, creating the clinical groupings, and maintaining the information in a central repository. In addition, this individual serves as an internal expert consulting and advising colleagues on appropriate codes to include/exclude for various studies, projects, and product development. As available, may also advise external SHS clients in regards to relevant codes and approaches. They will map and categorize diagnoses, procedures, laboratory test results, free text terms, and other parameters as observed in SHS claims, EMRs and Registry records to a central repository. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The Certified Clinical Coder (CCC) needs to be able to extract information from reference tables, records and other sources quickly and efficiently, has clinical insight to map and categorize codes in order to create relevant definitions of medical conditions, and is systematic in order to maintain the information in an accurate form over time. Detailed Duties:Performs reviews of ICD:9, ICD:10, CPT codes including standard coding rules, guidelines and conventionsProactively creates and maintains central sets of codes to define various clinical conditionsAs free text fields becomes available, assists in mapping terms to new and existing schemas Participates in coding / auditing discussions to ensure best practice efforts and processes are implemented ensuring maximum accuracyServes as a key contact and liaison within Symphony Health Solutions to answer coding questions.Works with key departments to review and explain results as needed.Support and participate in process and quality improvement initiatives.Stays abreast of industry coding and schemas, including LOINC, SNOWMED, GPI and othersEducationBachelorA?s Degree in clinical area (nurse, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, physician assistant or similar healthcare background), a Medical Coding Certificate, and at least 5 yearsA? experience in the pharmaceutical, health care, managed care, health insurance, disease management or consulting industries. Masters degree preferred.Experience:Demonstrated knowledge of ICD:9, ICD:10, HCPCS and CPT coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.Demonstrate analytical and problem:solving ability regarding barriers to receiving and validating accurate HCC information.Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Knowledge of CMS coding guidelines, including understanding of HCC/RAF.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must be able to work independently to carry out work efforts.
